While most reviewers are giving it a 100%, I would not go so far as to say it deserves this score. Is it the best GTA ever made? Probably. Is it the best game ever made? No I don't think so.
In fact, GTA has competition these days. Saint's Row is a very similar game, but Saint's Row offers a lot of gameplay features that still aren't present in GTA. GTA offers a much better story and better gameplay, along with better multiplayer. But to give GTA 5 stars, I'd have to see it at least match the features the competition offers, on top of the whole package.
The game is not slow. You always have something to do. Some of those things you have to do may in themselves be boring though. There is a friend system where you try to please certain people by hanging out with them and eventually they help you out in a way, like cheaper guns. This involves bowling, pool, darts, drinking, etc. The mini-games were well done and didn't feel like they were just tossed in. Bowling kind of works like it does in real life. Pool is the same. Drinking is very much like real life, expect to fall over onto the hood of your car.
On the subject of drinking, MADD recently blasted Rockstar for having it in the game. Just like most activist groups, they attack first and ask questions later, if ever. You will find that the game is setup exactly like real life. You can call a cab anytime or even whistle at them as they drive by. In fact, the first time I went drinking in the game, the NPC with me suggested to get a cab, even stating he would never drive drunk. The game in no way encourages ANYTHING bad, it simply gives you the option just like in real life. The cops will pull you over immediately if they spot you driving drunk, and the cops are hard enough to deal with sober so you might as well just get a cab wherever you are going.
There are a lot of different game modes for multiplayer, but so far it's fun. Nothing special, but it's nice to have unlike previous GTA's that didn't have much. | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Action & Adventure |
If you are a super hero fan, I shouldn't have to do any convincing to get you to watch this. If you like action movies, hey it's got all that and more.
To be honest, the only weakness I saw in the whole movie was the obvious intention of forcing the audience to hate Tony Stark first, then force them to love him. At least it was obvious to me, but it probably went WAY over the heads of most of the rest of the audience. For some reason, people thought this was a children's movie. It reaked of something that I could only hope was not fully loaded diapers. I don't know why all these mothers thought this was a children's movie... I mean the main actor is Robert Downey Jr.... you'd think that'd be hint enough. | Category: | Video Games | | Genre: | Racing | | Console: | PC Games |
http://files.filefront.com/TrackMania+Nations+Forever+Free+Full+Game/;10013754;/fileinfo.htmlIt's a free arcade racer. The graphics are good, the game is fun. It's a good way to waste time and it's surprisingly growing in popularity fast around my online friends. You can create your own tracks, fairly easily. You can repaint and customise your car. You have a rank and standing in the world, in your country, and in your state. The only real problem I have with it so far is that while playing online, some servers have custom tracks in their rotation that are just plain awful. | Category: | Video Games | | Genre: | Action | | Console: | PC Games |
Ok it might be early to be writing a review for the game. It is in Alpha testing, afterall. And I really can't say anything about the game, so I can't say why I like it. All I can really tell you is that I pre-ordered the Collector's Edition.
I love the devs at Flagship Studios, they've been good to the community. I can't wait till the game comes out, it's going to be exciting. It's a whole new game... a game like this just hasn't ever really been done. People want to say it's like Diablo but really it isn't. Random level generation isn't new to shooters, and really the only thing similar is going to be the random item system.
The thing that first got my hooked on the game, however, seems to have been accurate. Bill Roper said the problem with Diablo was that the perspective couldn't immerse you into the moment. Moving the gameplay into a much closer, tighter camera really changes the way you feel about the action you are a part of. Being rushed by dozens of zombies at the same time is exciting and fun, especially when you are blowing body parts off.
I can't say what the game will be like at release, because it's still evolving. However, I would speculate that it will be somewhat like Diablo 1 was. Great concepts and design ideas, with some flaws. And I expect the sequel to Hellgate to expose those flaws and improve upon the concept. | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Science Fiction & Fantasy |
As my friend put it, "This movie is 2 1/2 hours of awesomeness."
Yes, this movie is everything you hoped it would be. Lots of transforming, lots of action, lots of story. I loved every bit of it. Half the crowd stayed till the very last credit waiting, hoping. Nothing. But I have no doubt there will be a sequel. There were signs of it and I have faith this movie will be a huge success. | Category: | Video Games | | Genre: | Role-Playing | | Console: | PC Games |
Vanguard had a shakey launch. It was at the same time as WoW's expansion, which reinforced its position in the market as dominant leader. Further, reviewers complained and developers agreed that the game wasn't even complete. I for one did not jump to the idea of trying this game. However, one of those reviews did say that although it has had a rough start, the game shows great promise. So eventually I did pick it up to try it.
While they are still continually patching the game for balance and additions, the game has much to offer. This game is nothing like WoW, in fact it can be more comparable to DAoC and EQ. Leveling is a grind, but there is more to do than level. While crafting in other games offered up a rich player economy and ways to get loot without combat, crafting in Vanguard goes further. You can craft player housing, you can craft boats, and more. While the economy right now is not so rich(being flooded with newbie gear since everyone is a newbie still), it will be huge soon with crafters being sought for much needed items.
The immersion in this game is brought in the form of a new way to play the game: Diplomacy. Diplomacy is much like combat, just without swords and little chance of death. You can earn loot through diplomacy, there are many quests, many benefits. You learn what's going on in the land and take part in it's advancement. My spear may rust before I enter combat again, I am so absorbed in this side of the gameplay.
The nice thing is that you have multiple equipment setups, one each for the different kinds of gameplay; Adventuring, crafting, harvesting, and diplomacy. When you start an event in one of those it automatically switches you to that equipment. Your skills and faction goes up(or down) with each action.
There are 3 factions to choose from, with unique races to each faction. I have chosen the Kojani race, which is the human race for the Kojan faction. I had not realised this prior, but this faction is oriental. Oddly enough, the orcs and goblins belong to this faction, but I must say that an Orc looks proper in samurai armor. Housing architecture, boats, equipment... they are tailored to your faction. I have always been a fan of chinese art and architecture so this faction is great to be in.
The game does require a decent computer to play. The graphics have every setting from low to ultra high, and I've heard the game doesn't look too bad even on low. However, on ultra high it is beautiful. I would say it's as good if not better than Oblivion, but you need the best hardware to handle that. I have a P4 3.0 ghz, 2 GB of RAM, and an x850XTPE but I play at medium high with the framerate dropping to the red in some places, but mostly averaging 15 fps(which is not great, but works). No doubt an upgrade to my video card is all I need, but since ATI will be releasing a new generation within a month I'm going to wait to see if prices drop.
Overall I think the one thing this game is really missing is players. I may have pushed one WoW player to play this game, since he like many others have probably burnt out on WoW. I think in 6 months you will see many more players making the switch, but there are 2 more MMO's on the horizon, one of which might take over: Age of Conan. But I'm not prophet so I'll just say... this game is fun. | Category: | Video Games | | Genre: | Strategy | | Console: | PC Games |
When I first read about this game it sounded awfully complicated. When I read reviews after it's release, it offered lots of information that led me to believe it would be a game I enjoyed, so I purchased it. Lately I have done very little PC gaming and thought for sure I was done with it since no good games were ever coming out again it seemed. This game defies the rest.
In all the reviews there are only 2 negative remarks. One is that the campaigns in this game start slowly as you can only use basic units in the beginning. I find this actually a good thing because there are lots of units and buildings to learn in this RTS which involves land, air, and navy units all at the same time. On top of that you need to learn the custom UI that is well organized and actually pretty sophisticated. If you have two monitors, you can split the UI across both having a tactical map on one side and a zoomed in map on the other.
The other negative remark is the impact this game has on your system. Some said it would be pretty difficult to play this game in 8 player multiplayer. The graphics are really good and the maps are huge. I myself have not had any performance issues yet and my computer is a couple years old, I run at high settings. Multiplayer will of course be a different story, but an 8 player game could run 4-5 hours long so I doubt I'd ever do that any time soon.
I wish I could compare this game to something that people would recognize, but it's really it's own game. It's not your typical build a bunch of units and rush the enemy type of RTS, there is actual strategy required for this game. Rushing will never work in this game, don't expect a match even 1 on 1 to last less than an hour. As a reviewer said, it is not for the casual gamer. That is fine for me and I really have nothing negative to say about this game so far. | Category: | Video Games | | Genre: | Action | | Console: | Xbox 360 |
The quickest way to describe Crackdown is to say it's like Grand Theft Auto, except you are the cops. But you aren't just any cop, you are a super agent.
As far as sandbox games go, this one is the newest yet the least featured. You do not customize your character in any way, you do not own anything, and your goals are fairly simply and straightforward. There is very little to this game really. The character development may be something new but it's entirely automated, it wouldn't make any difference if it weren't visible at all.
Sound boring? Well it can be once you get a handle on it. Once I was able to get a grenade launcher, I found it terribly easy to kill a crime boss. Just jump in and unload as many grenades as possible then shoot him while he's down. Killing anyone else is just for fun, adds nothing to the game.
The only really redeeming factor for this game is the physics, explosions are lots of fun. I heard prior to purchasing this game that many people gave up on the game to instead find new ways of stacking vehicles to make for huge explosions, and I wish I hadn't ignored it. The game really loses it's edge halfway through and... I don't even know if I'll finish it. | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Mystery & Suspense |
I can't see how this movie won't win awards. When I first saw the trailer to it, I knew I wanted to see it. Jim Carrey is breaking out of his comedy role and right into serious roles that you wouldn't think to ever see him in. He proves in this movie he can do it, and he did a good job of it.
From the opening credits to the end credits, this movie was just top notch. You got to know the main character from the beginning, but you never knew more than he did. I love mystery movies, especially ones like this that really keep the truth hidden from even us, the spectator. Even I could not figure this one out till the end, and even when revealed the story was not over. It was a very interesting and well done film. | 300 | Mar 12, '07 7:25 PM for everyone |

I was really, really looking forward to this movie. More so than any other this year. I find myself somewhat disappointed, and I don't think it was because I hyped myself up too much.
The way the movie plays out is like the telling of a story from an old war veteran. It was quite exaggerated and even ridiculous at times. Then again, this is based on a true story that many historians believe to have been exaggerated and even ridiculous at times. Who could believe the story of 1300 men versus an army of 1 million?
Even so, I thought it was a great idea for a movie, and the exaggerations made sense if you looked at it from that point of view. These things I found to be good marks of the movie, it was in fact the artistic side of the film that brought me to the theater. The colors, the lighting, the story telling, the whole scene... it was great.
The things that brought this down and ultimately kept the movie from perfection were the cheesey scenes that went beyond reason. The sex scene between the king and queen was... I almost laughed. It was ridiculous and unnecessary. What's worse is that I don't think any woman in this movie didn't show her breasts at least once. Seriously. Hell the men didn't even wear body armor either, and I don't believe that to be historically accurate. But who would go see a movie without bare breasted men and women these days?(hint of sarcasm)
I think this movie would have been better had it been directed by someone else. It lacked the class that I saw in other war movies. I wanted more Gibson and less Terentino. The actors did a fine job, I put the blame on the director. | Category: | Music | | Genre: | Other | | Artist: | Hawk Nelson |
Punk Rock. Some slow songs that are great. Overall a fantastic group. Quick tempo or down-tempo they hit it. Normally I don't listen to the radio, caught these guys in between changing CD's in the car. Definitely worth the $14 for the special edition of the CD.
These guys are real young but they are very talented. They performed on MTV last year on American Dreams, singing My Generation by The Who. It's included on the special edition CD. | Category: | Books | | Genre: | History | | Author: | Jason Boyett |
The Official Field Manual for the End of the World. It sounds real serious, but it's a rather humorous book. It's a history on soapbox-standing prophets saying the end is near. It has a apocalyptionary, history of end of the world prophets, and candidates for the antichrist. It's a very interesting read with funny comments. Reading about all the nutcases that have tried predicting The End was very funny, especially when it points out all the famous wackos that founded the major cults of our time. I hope people who are members pick the book up, maybe they'll finally learn why they are called a cult. | Chili's | Jul 23, '05 1:34 AM for everyone |

Over a period of 2 months I went to many restaurants that I had either never been to or gone to probably only once before. Most of them I had a good experience at, Chili's was not one of them.
The first time I went to Chili's, I got the chicken crispers. The slogan for Chili's is to step away from the usual, and these aren't usual. They also seemed to lack any taste to them. Overall I found them bland and boring. I didn't hold this against them, however, because it was my first entree there.
This second time I went, however, they totally ruined the experience beyond repair. I went to a different local Chili's, although I don't think that matters. The menu should be the same regardless of location. I decided to try out their nachos. For $7, I expected a lot. What I got was 12 chips.
Now, I love nachos. I've tried nachos at just about any restaurant that offers them. I have never seen this before. Most decent restaurants give you a pile of chips and loads of cheese. There was plenty of cheese here, but only a dozen chips. At .60 cents per chip, this is a rather expensive appetizer. It was borderline offensive in fact!
There were other issues that were more local than central to Chili's itself, so I won't go into that. I give them 2 stars because those chips did taste good. If they could just mulitply the count by 4 they could get another star... | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Science Fiction & Fantasy |
Excellent. Shocking. Unbelievable. Non-stop. | Category: | Music | | Genre: | Other | | Artist: | The Black Eyed Peas |
As soon as I heard these guys and saw an interview with them, I knew I had to get this. I'm not disappointed. I put other for genre because they are... different. Alternative hip-hop? These guys(and girl) are crazy and I love it. They are featured on a Best Buy commercial right now.
I love music done by people that seem to enjoy what they do. These guys look like they love it. They have fun, and that just makes me enjoy it more. | Stereo | May 25, '05 2:31 PM for everyone |

You can listen to the tracks at VH1's website here. I'm loving this album, picked it up yesterday. I've never heard anything like it, I want more! If anyone has any suggestions of music like it, let me know. | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Drama |
Perhaps the hardest role for an actor to play is that of a mentally challenged individual. Jet Li was thrust into this role in the movie Unleashed as a man named only Danny.
This was a bit different than Forrest Gump or Radio though. Danny didn't play football. He killed people. And he could kill anyone. Jet Li has never fought like this before, and this is probably the best fighting I've seen from him. It was straight speed and focus. He jumped on one guy and just started headbutting him over and over fast, then jumped off him and punched a guy 5 times in the same time another person would punch twice. He was an animal, and I loved it.
Morgan Freeman played a blind man named Sam, who tuned piano's. He helped Danny become a man instead of a killing machine. He played his role well, and he looks mighty fine in black shades.
Everyone should see this movie. It is not a martial arts movie, Jet Li plays serious roles. He does fight, but it's not centered around that. It's a drama. | Forza | May 6, '05 1:00 AM for everyone |

The big talk lately has been which is better, Gran Turismo 4 or Forza? I don't have an answer for that, but I can tell you Forza kicks ass.
I think the basic race to race gameplay will be similar between the games, but it's the other details that will really push you to one or the other game. GT4 has over 3 times as many cars, but Forza has realistic damage. I'll be honest, I probably won't drive 700 cars, but I love the idea of damage, so I chose Forza. GT5 will have damage, and the only reason GT4 doesn't is because the PS2 can't handle it. Fact is, the Xbox is twice the console the PS2 is. The next generation of consoles will probably show us a closer match, GT5 and Forza 2. Or maybe Forza 360, who knows what Microsoft will call it these days.
